YASHODA AI Brings AI Literacy and Digital Safety Awareness to Students in Jammu

A flagship initiative of the National Commission for Women (NCW), in collaboration with Future Shift Labs, YASHODA AI hosted a special workshop at the Central University, Jammu

Jammu, 26 September 2025: In a continuing effort to bridge the gap between technology and education, YASHODA AI – a flagship programme of the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with Future Shift Labs (FSL) – organised a special workshop at Central University, Jammu on 26th September 2025. This event marked a vital step in sensitizing future social workers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the justice system and society at large.

The workshop highlighted how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming learning, communication, and employment, while also raising new challenges such as misinformation, cybercrime, and online safety. By engaging directly with students, the workshop aimed to build a generation that is not only digitally skilled but also socially responsible in its use of technology.

The session brought together students from across the university, providing them with an opportunity to understand how Artificial Intelligence is shaping learning, work, and society. It also highlighted the risks of misuse, ranging from online harassment to the spread of misinformation and the importance of using technology responsibly.

The workshop covered four core themes:

  • AI in Education and Careers: How AI tools are shaping learning, skill development, and employability.
  • Cyber Law & Women’s Safety: Understanding digital rights, online abuse, and protection against gendered cyber threats.
  • Ethics of AI: Tackling concerns such as bias, misuse of data, and accountability in digital systems.
  • Practical Exposure: Hands-on training on tools like ChatGPT, Cyber Dost, the NCW Women Safety App, and other emerging platforms.

Unlike conventional lectures, the workshop emphasised interactive participation. Students engaged in live demonstrations, scenario-based discussions, and real-world case analysis to better understand the opportunities and risks of AI in everyday life.

The NCW Chairperson, Mrs. Vijaya Rahatkar, in her address, set the context that, “The true measure of progress is not only in the advancement of technology but in our ability to harness it with responsibility and purpose. By preparing students to engage thoughtfully with Artificial Intelligence, we are nurturing a generation that will safeguard rights, strengthen justice, and uphold the values of an informed and equitable society.”

Adding to this, Mr Nitin Narang, Director of Future Shift Labs, stated: “YASHODA AI is not merely a programme but a national mission to build digital capacity and ethical awareness among India’s youth. By integrating knowledge of Artificial Intelligence with principles of responsibility and safety, we seek to empower students to become leaders who can shape an inclusive digital future.”

This was YASHODA AI’s first programme in Jammu, extending its mission to make digital literacy and cyber safety accessible to students and communities across India.
